Write a project brief first

Document what the feature should look like, where it will be located, how people will interact with it, and who is responsible for design and installation. A useful brief prevents product selection from happening before site requirements are understood.

• Location, dimensions, viewing distance, and intended appearance
• Existing surface, framing, support, edges, openings, fixtures, and service access
• Moisture, heat, impact, cleaning, ventilation, and other environmental conditions

Choose materials from exact product records

Compare actual tile and brick products by dimensions, thickness, weight, finish, package information, and current availability. Natural variation should be part of the visual plan. Do not infer a missing specification or transfer data from a similar-looking item.

Create a scaled layout
