Salt Brick Wall Cost per Square Foot: Pack-by-Pack Math

Pink Himalayan salt bricks from Natural Salt Co. cost approx. $24.88 to $29.70 per square foot in salt alone, depending on the pack you buy, based on 4.5 bricks per sq ft and store prices checked October 20, 2026. Add a 10% cut allowance and pink salt adhesive, and our three example walls land at about $31 to $33 per sq ft in materials before labor, framing and lighting. Below is the math for every pack size, three worked wall examples and the costs that sit outside the brick price.
How salt brick cost per square foot is calculated
Every brick in our salt brick collection measures 8 x 4 x 2 inches and weighs about 5.5 lb, according to the product pages. The 70-pack page lists 15.56 sq ft of coverage for 70 bricks, which works out to about 4.5 bricks per sq ft when laid with the 8 x 4 inch face showing.
The formula is simple:
- Price per brick = pack price divided by bricks in the pack
- Approx. cost per sq ft = price per brick x 4.5
- With a 10% allowance = price per brick x 4.95 (4.5 plus 10% for cuts, edges and breakage)
The 10% allowance is a planning recommendation, not a store spec. Walls with many outlets, corners or angled cuts may need more.
Salt brick price per square foot by pack size
These are Natural Salt Co. store prices for pink salt bricks. We did the math with exact store prices and rounded for display.
| Pack | Approx. price | Approx. per brick | Approx. per sq ft (4.5 bricks) | Approx. per sq ft with 10% allowance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single brick | approx. $6.60 | about $6.60 | about $29.70 | about $32.67 |
| Pack of 20 | approx. $130 | about $6.50 | about $29.25 | about $32.17 |
| Pack of 30 | approx. $185 | about $6.17 | about $27.75 | about $30.53 |
| Pack of 50 | approx. $287 | about $5.74 | about $25.83 | about $28.41 |
| Pack of 70 | approx. $387 | about $5.53 | about $24.88 | about $27.37 |
| Pack of 100 | approx. $577 | about $5.77 | about $25.97 | about $28.56 |
Prices checked October 20, 2026. All prices are approximate and can change; see the product page for the current price.
Two things stand out. The pack of 70 has the lowest per-brick price of the loose packs right now. The pack of 100 costs a little more per brick than both the 70-pack and the 50-pack, so a bigger pack is not automatically the lower-cost choice. Compare the per-brick figure before you add to cart.

Adhesive cost per square foot
Bricks are not the whole material bill. The pink salt adhesive 3-pack product page says it can secure up to 120 salt bricks, which is about 40 bricks per tube. We suggest planning for 30 to 40 bricks per tube, since coverage depends on bead size and wall surface.
- 3-pack of pink salt adhesive: approx. $80, or about $26.66 per tube
- At 40 bricks per tube: about $0.67 per brick, roughly $3.00 per sq ft
- At 30 bricks per tube: about $0.89 per brick, roughly $4.00 per sq ft
So adhesive adds roughly $3 to $4 per sq ft at 3-pack pricing. Other tube packs are priced differently per tube (the 10-pack works out higher per tube than the 3-pack right now), so check the adhesive page for the current mix.
Worked examples: three wall sizes
Each example uses 4.5 bricks per sq ft plus a 10% allowance, the lowest-cost loose pack mix we found for that count, and the lowest-cost tube mix for 30 to 40 bricks per tube.
| Wall | Bricks needed | Pack mix (example) | Approx. brick cost | Approx. adhesive cost | Approx. materials total | Approx. per sq ft |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4 x 6 ft (24 sq ft) | 119 | 70 + 50 (120 bricks) | approx. $674 | approx. $80 to $108 (3 to 4 tubes) | approx. $754 to $782 | about $31.42 to $32.58 |
| 6 x 8 ft (48 sq ft) | 238 | 3 x 70 + 20 + 8 singles | approx. $1,344 | approx. $160 to $214 (6 to 8 tubes) | approx. $1,504 to $1,558 | about $31.33 to $32.45 |
| 8 x 10 ft (80 sq ft) | 396 | 5 x 70 + 50 (400 bricks) | approx. $2,222 | approx. $268 to $374 (10 to 14 tubes) | approx. $2,490 to $2,596 | about $31.12 to $32.45 |

Notice how the per-sq-ft figure barely moves between wall sizes. Because the 70-pack already carries the lowest per-brick price, a larger wall does not bring a big per-sq-ft drop. What changes the number more is how you round up to whole packs and how much adhesive you plan for.
What about the sauna brick kits?
The store also sells kits that bundle bricks with adhesive. The 200-brick kit with 6 adhesive tubes is approx. $1,240, about $6.20 per brick with adhesive included, and its product page lists approx. 44 sq ft of single-layer coverage, roughly $28.18 per sq ft before any allowance. Buying 200 loose bricks (70 + 70 + 50 + 10 singles, approx. $1,127) plus 6 tubes (two 3-packs, approx. $160) comes to approx. $1,287, so at today's prices the kit is about $47 lower for that exact quantity. Check the kit page to confirm what is included before you order.
Costs outside the brick price
The figures above cover salt and adhesive. A finished wall usually needs more, and these items are not Natural Salt Co. products or prices:
- Labor: varies widely by region and installer. Our salt brick wall labor cost guide uses an example planning range of roughly $10 to $20 per sq ft; treat it as a placeholder and get local quotes.
- Framing or backer: salt bricks add about 24.75 lb of salt per sq ft (5.5 lb x 4.5). A contractor or engineer can confirm whether your wall or floor can carry that load.
- LED lighting and electrician: backlit walls need fixtures, a driver and usually a licensed electrician, depending on local code. Price these locally.
- Shipping: bricks are heavy (the 70-pack page lists 385 lb), so check shipping details on the product page or ask for a quote.

Tiles vs bricks per square foot
If budget per sq ft is the main goal, compare our pink salt tiles too. Tiles share the 8 x 4 inch face but are 1 inch thick, so they weigh less per sq ft; the tile product pages cover backlighting details. Check the tile pack prices with the same per-piece x 4.5 math, since the lower-cost option depends on the pack sizes you buy. Our salt tile thickness comparison covers weight and depth side by side.
How to keep your cost per square foot down
- Measure carefully and round up once, not twice. Double allowances add bricks you may not use.
- Build your count from the 70-pack first, then fill the gap with a 50, 30 or 20-pack and singles, and compare totals.
- Compare the kit price against loose bricks plus adhesive for your exact count.
- Plan outlets, switches and edges early so you cut fewer bricks.
- Use the salt wall planning guide to settle size and layout before ordering.
