Full Salt Room vs Single Feature Wall: Cost Compared

A single salt feature wall costs far less than a full salt room because you cover one wall instead of four. In our examples with Natural Salt Co. pink salt bricks and adhesive, an 8 x 8 ft feature wall comes to approx. $2,019 in materials, while a small 6 x 8 ft room lined on all four walls comes to approx. $5,773 to $6,301. A full room also adds framing on every wall, much more weight, more lighting and more labor, so the gap usually grows once installation is included.
Below is the math, four worked examples and the extra items a full room brings, so you can decide which project fits your space and budget.
Salt room vs feature wall: cost at a glance
All figures below are salt and adhesive only, using store prices from our brick and adhesive product pages. You can see the other options in our Himalayan salt wall materials. Labor, framing, lighting, electrical work and shipping are not included.
| Project | Wall area | Bricks to order (+10%) | Approx. salt weight | Approx. cost, loose packs + adhesive | Approx. cost, example kit route |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Feature wall, 8 x 8 ft | 64 sq ft | 317 | about 1,744 lb | approx. $2,019 | approx. $2,020 |
| Feature wall, 10 x 8 ft | 80 sq ft | 397 | about 2,184 lb | approx. $2,542 | approx. $2,462 |
| Full room, 6 x 8 ft floor, 8 ft ceiling | 203 sq ft | 1,005 | about 5,528 lb | approx. $6,301 | approx. $5,773 |
| Full room, 8 x 10 ft floor, 8 ft ceiling | 267 sq ft | 1,322 | about 7,271 lb | approx. $8,292 | approx. $7,675 |

Per square foot, the feature walls land at roughly $31 to $32 with loose packs, and the full rooms at roughly $28 to $29 when they use the larger kits. So a full room can cost a little less per square foot of salt, but it needs about two and a half to four times the area, which is why the total is much higher.
How we worked out the numbers
Natural Salt Co. store data (from the live product pages):
- Pink salt bricks measure 8 x 4 x 2 in and weigh 5.5 lb each.
- A 70-pack covers 15.56 sq ft, which works out to about 4.5 bricks per sq ft.
- The adhesive 3-pack is listed as bonding up to 120 salt bricks, so we plan about 40 bricks per tube.
- The 500-brick kit includes 17 adhesive tubes and is listed at approximately 110 sq ft in a single layer.
Our planning assumptions (examples, not measurements of your space):
- Room walls are 8 ft tall, with one 3 x 7 ft door opening removed from the area.
- We cover walls only. Ceilings and floors are not included.
- We add a 10% allowance for cuts, breakage and color matching, then round up.
For example, the 6 x 8 ft room has a 28 ft perimeter. 28 x 8 = 224 sq ft, minus the 21 sq ft door, leaves 203 sq ft. 203 x 4.5 = 913.5 bricks, plus 10% gives 1,005 bricks.
Pink salt brick price per piece by pack
| Pack | Approx. price | Approx. per brick | Approx. per sq ft (4.5 bricks) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single brick | approx. $6.60 | about $6.60 | about $29.70 |
| Pack of 20 | approx. $130 | about $6.50 | about $29.25 |
| Pack of 30 | approx. $185 | about $6.17 | about $27.75 |
| Pack of 50 | approx. $287 | about $5.74 | about $25.83 |
| Pack of 70 | approx. $387 | about $5.53 | about $24.88 |
| Pack of 100 | approx. $577 | about $5.77 | about $25.97 |
| 500 kit with 17 adhesive tubes | approx. $2,870 | about $5.74 (adhesive included) | about $25.83 |

Two things stand out. The 100-pack costs a little more per brick than the 70-pack and the 50-pack at current prices, so bigger is not automatically cheaper. And the 500 kit matches the 50-pack per brick while also including adhesive, which is why kits pull the full room totals down. You can compare every pack in our pink salt bricks collection.

Single feature wall cost: two examples
8 x 8 ft feature wall
64 sq ft x 4.5 = 288 bricks, plus 10% = 317 bricks. The lowest loose combination we found is four 70-packs, one 30-pack and seven single bricks, approx. $1,779. Three adhesive 3-packs (up to 360 bricks) add approx. $240, for a total of approx. $2,019. A 300-brick kit plus a 20-pack lands at about the same figure, approx. $2,020, with 10 tubes included.
10 x 8 ft feature wall
80 sq ft x 4.5 = 360 bricks, plus 10% = 397. Five 70-packs and one 50-pack give 400 bricks for approx. $2,222, and four adhesive 3-packs add approx. $320, for approx. $2,542. As an example kit route, a 300-brick kit (10 tubes) plus one 70-pack and one 30-pack also gives 400 bricks for approx. $2,462, about $80 less.
Full salt room cost: two examples
6 x 8 ft room, four walls
203 sq ft needs 1,005 bricks. With loose packs (fourteen 70-packs, one 20-pack and five singles) the bricks come to approx. $5,581, and nine adhesive 3-packs add approx. $720, for approx. $6,301. Two 500-brick kits plus five single bricks give 1,005 bricks and 34 tubes for approx. $5,773, about $528 less.
8 x 10 ft room, four walls
267 sq ft needs 1,322 bricks. Loose packs (eighteen 70-packs, one 50-pack and twelve singles) come to approx. $7,332, and twelve adhesive 3-packs add approx. $960, for approx. $8,292. Two 500-brick kits plus five 70-packs give 1,350 bricks and 34 tubes for approx. $7,675. The 34 tubes match our planning rate of about 40 bricks per tube for this order, so you may want a spare tube on hand.

What a full room adds beyond the salt
The salt is only part of the budget. The items below are typical US project costs that vary by location, building and contractor, so we do not list Natural Salt Co. prices for them. Get local quotes before you commit.
- Framing and backing on every wall. A feature wall needs one support surface; a room needs four, plus corners and a door surround.
- Weight. At 5.5 lb per brick, the example rooms carry about 5,500 to 7,300 lb of salt. We recommend having a structural engineer or qualified contractor confirm the floor and wall framing can carry that load.
- Lighting and electrical. Backlighting four walls means more LED runs, drivers and access points than one wall. Electrical work should be done by a licensed electrician.
- Door, ceiling and floor finishes. A full room still needs a door, a ceiling finish and flooring that suit the space.
- Ventilation and humidity. Salt can attract moisture in high humidity, so an enclosed room may need climate control. Ask your HVAC contractor what suits your space.
- Labor. Our salt brick wall labor cost guide uses an example range of roughly $10 to $20 per sq ft. Applied to our examples, that is approx. $640 to $1,280 for the 8 x 8 ft wall and approx. $2,030 to $4,060 for the 6 x 8 ft room. Treat these as planning examples, not quotes.
- Freight. A full room order is heavy palletized freight. Shipping depends on your location, so ask us for a quote.

Which one fits your project?
A single feature wall often suits you if:
- You want the look in a living room, bedroom, office, spa or retail space without changing the whole room.
- Your budget for salt is closer to approx. $2,000 to $2,550.
- You want one framed wall and one lighting zone.
A full salt room often suits you if:
- You want an enclosed, fully lined space, such as a dedicated relaxation room or a commercial wellness suite.
- You have confirmed the structure can carry several thousand pounds of salt.
- You can plan framing, lighting, ventilation and finishes for the whole room at once.
Many owners start with one feature wall and add more later. If you go that route, order from the same batch where possible so colors stay close.
Could salt tiles lower the cost?
Pink salt tiles are 8 x 4 x 1 in, half the thickness of the bricks, so they also come to 4.5 per sq ft. At current prices they run approx. $24 to $27 per sq ft in tiles alone, depending on pack size. For the 6 x 8 ft room, 1,005 tiles come to approx. $5,372 before adhesive. Browse sizes in our salt wall tiles collection, and check the salt tile size guide before you order.

Frequently asked questions
How much more does a full salt room cost than a single salt wall?
In our examples with pink salt bricks and adhesive, an 8 x 8 ft feature wall comes to approx. $2,019, while a 6 x 8 ft room lined on four walls comes to approx. $5,773 to $6,301. That is roughly three times the salt cost, before framing, lighting, labor and shipping. Prices checked October 21, 2026.
How many salt bricks does a full salt room need?
At about 4.5 bricks per sq ft plus a 10% allowance, a 6 x 8 ft room with 8 ft walls and one door needs about 1,005 bricks, and an 8 x 10 ft room needs about 1,322. Measure your own walls, since ceiling height and openings change the count.
Is a salt room cheaper per square foot than a feature wall?
It can be. In our examples the full rooms land at roughly $28 to $29 per sq ft using 500-brick kits with adhesive included, while the feature walls land at roughly $31 to $32 per sq ft with loose packs. The room total is still much higher because it covers far more wall area.
How heavy is a full salt brick room?
Each pink salt brick weighs 5.5 lb, so our example rooms carry about 5,500 to 7,300 lb of salt. We recommend having a structural engineer or qualified contractor confirm your floor and framing can carry that load before ordering.
Do the salt room kits include adhesive?
Yes. The 500-brick kit includes 17 tubes of pink salt adhesive and is listed at approx. $2,870, or about $5.74 per brick. The adhesive 3-pack is listed as bonding up to 120 bricks, so check that the tube count fits your order.
What other costs come with a full salt room?
Expect framing and backing on every wall, lighting and electrical work, a door, ceiling and floor finishes, possible ventilation or climate control, labor and freight. These are typical US project costs that vary by location, so get local quotes. Our labor guide uses an example of roughly $10 to $20 per sq ft.
Can I start with one salt wall and add more later?
Yes, many owners do. Ordering from the same batch where possible helps keep colors close, and planning the framing for future walls up front can make later additions easier.
