Salt Tile Bulk Order Planning for Large Projects

For a large salt tile project, plan the order in five steps: count tiles for every wall with about 10% added for cuts, compare pack prices per tile, choose the pack mix that costs the least for that count, plan adhesive, and confirm weight and delivery before you buy. At our current store prices, pink salt tiles for a 100 to 400 sq ft project come to approx. $24.50 to $25.50 per sq ft for the salt alone, and larger packs bring the per-tile price down from about $5.99 to about $4.91.
This guide is for contractors, designers and owners ordering several hundred to a few thousand tiles. All tile prices, weights and coverage below are Natural Salt Co. store data. Labor, framing, lighting and shipping are not included because they depend on your location and project.
Step 1: Count Tiles for the Whole Project
Our pink tiles measure 8 x 4 x 1 inches, so 100 tiles cover 22.22 sq ft according to the product pages. That works out to 4.5 tiles per sq ft. For a bulk order, count every wall first, then add the allowance once to the total:
- Measure each wall in feet and multiply width by height.
- Subtract openings such as doors, screens or recessed shelves.
- Multiply by 4.5 to get the tile count.
- Add about 10% for cuts, edge pieces and a few spares, then round up.
For a row-by-row check on a single wall, use our salt tile quantity calculator guide, and confirm dimensions in the salt tile size guide.
Step 2: Compare Pack Prices per Tile
A larger pack does not automatically cost less per tile. In our current pink tile range, the 100-pack costs slightly more per tile than the 70-pack. From the 150-pack upward, the per-tile price drops at every step.
| Pink tile pack | Approx. price | Approx. per tile | Coverage (store data) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 tiles | approx. $290 | about $5.80 | 11.1 sq ft |
| 70 tiles | approx. $400 | about $5.71 | 15.56 sq ft |
| 100 tiles | approx. $572 | about $5.72 | 22.22 sq ft |
| 150 tiles | approx. $810 | about $5.40 | 33.33 sq ft |
| 200 tiles | approx. $1,071 | about $5.35 | 44.44 sq ft |
| 300 tiles | approx. $1,600 | about $5.33 | 66.67 sq ft |
| 400 tiles | approx. $2,109 | about $5.27 | 88.89 sq ft |
| 500 tiles | approx. $2,500 | about $5.00 | 111.11 sq ft |
| 1,000 tiles | approx. $4,910 | about $4.91 | 222.22 sq ft |
Prices checked October 28, 2026. All prices are approximate and can change; see the product page for the current price.
Per-tile figures are pack price divided by tile count. For comparison, a single tile is approx. $5.99. Some large packs show a Get Quote button on the product page instead of a price; the figures above are store catalog prices, and a quote confirms the final number. You can see every size in our salt tile collection.

Step 3: Find the Lowest-Cost Pack Mix
Because pack prices do not fall evenly, the lowest-cost order is often a mix. We checked every combination of current pink tile packs for four project sizes, each with a 10% allowance:
| Project area | Tiles needed (+10%) | Lowest-cost pack mix | Approx. tile cost | Approx. per sq ft |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 100 sq ft | 496 | 1 x 500 | approx. $2,500 | approx. $25.00 |
| 150 sq ft | 743 | 500 + 200 + 20 + 20 + 2 + 1 | approx. $3,823 | approx. $25.48 |
| 250 sq ft | 1,238 | 1,000 + 200 + 30 + 4 + 4 | approx. $6,203 | approx. $24.81 |
| 400 sq ft | 1,981 | 2 x 1,000 | approx. $9,820 | approx. $24.55 |
Prices checked October 28, 2026. All prices are approximate and can change; see the product page for the current price.
A simpler order can cost more. For the 150 sq ft example, a 500-pack plus a 300-pack gives 800 tiles for approx. $4,100, about $277 more than the mix above. The extra 57 tiles may still be worth it if you want spares on hand for future repairs.
One Order vs Room by Room
Ordering a multi-room project together can lower the total. Take four 6 x 4 ft feature panels, each needing 119 tiles with the allowance:
- Room by room: the lowest mix for 119 tiles (100 + 10 + 4 + 4 + 1) is approx. $684, so four separate orders come to approx. $2,736.
- One order: 476 tiles fit in a single 500-pack at approx. $2,500, with 24 spares.
That is about $236 less for the combined order at the checked prices. A single order also makes it easier to keep tiles from the same batch together. Our 200-pack page states that all 200 tiles come from a single production batch; if color consistency across several packs matters for your project, ask about it when you request a quote.
Step 4: Plan Adhesive for the Full Order
Our adhesive 3-pack lists coverage of up to 120 salt bricks, which works out to up to 40 pieces per tube. Tiles share the same 8 x 4 inch face, so we use 40 per tube as an upper planning figure for tiles too. Actual use depends on the wall surface and bead size, so treat these tube counts as a minimum and follow the adhesive maker's instructions.
| Project area | Tiles | Tubes (at up to 40 per tube) | Example adhesive mix | Approx. adhesive cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 100 sq ft | 496 | 13 | 3 x 3-pack + 2 x 2-pack | approx. $348 |
| 150 sq ft | 743 | 19 | 5 x 3-pack + 2 x 2-pack | approx. $508 |
| 250 sq ft | 1,238 | 31 | 9 x 3-pack + 2 x 2-pack | approx. $828 |
| 400 sq ft | 1,981 | 50 | 1 x 50-pack | approx. $1,249 |
Prices checked October 28, 2026. All prices are approximate and can change; see the product page for the current price.
Per tube, the 50-pack (about $24.98) and 100-pack (about $22.30) cost less than the 3-pack (about $26.66), while the 10-pack (about $28.10) and 15-pack (about $27.33) cost more than the 3-pack. Browse the sizes in our pink salt adhesive range.
Step 5: Check Weight, Delivery and Storage
The 200-pack product page lists each tile at about 2.9 lb, so a large tile order is heavy:
| Project area | Tiles | Approx. salt weight | Approx. salt plus adhesive cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 sq ft | 496 | about 1,438 lb | approx. $2,848 |
| 150 sq ft | 743 | about 2,155 lb | approx. $4,331 |
| 250 sq ft | 1,238 | about 3,590 lb | approx. $7,031 |
| 400 sq ft | 1,981 | about 5,745 lb | approx. $11,069 |
Prices checked October 28, 2026. All prices are approximate and can change; see the product page for the current price.
Before delivery day, it helps to plan for:
- Receiving: delivery options are confirmed at checkout. Check whether your site has a loading dock or needs a liftgate, and who moves the boxes inside.
- Floor load: stage boxes on a ground floor or a floor your contractor has checked for the weight.
- Dry storage: keep tiles indoors, off the floor and away from moisture until installation.
- Inspection: open and count each pack on arrival, and set aside any chipped pieces for cut edges.
- Wall support: at roughly 13 lb of salt per sq ft, ask a contractor to confirm the wall and backing can carry the load.

Tiles or Bricks for a Large Project?
Our tiles are 1 inch thick and our pink salt bricks are 2 inches thick with the same 8 x 4 inch face, so the count per sq ft is the same. Tiles carry a little over half the salt weight per sq ft (about 2.9 lb per tile vs about 5.5 lb per brick on the product pages), which can make a big difference on a large order. If you are pricing bricks in volume, see our guide to bulk salt brick orders.
Costs to Price Locally
The figures above cover store materials and nothing else. For a full budget, get local prices for installation labor, wall framing or backer board, LED lighting and an electrician if the wall is backlit, and freight. These vary by location and project. Our salt wall planning guide lists what to check before work starts.
Request a Quote for Your Project
Large orders are easier with a written quote that confirms pack mix, current pricing and delivery. Send your wall sizes through our project quote form and we can help you plan the order. You can also compare sizes in our range of Himalayan salt tiles before you reach out.
Frequently asked questions
How many salt tiles do I need for a large project?
Multiply the total wall area in square feet by 4.5, then add about 10% for cuts and spares. For example, 250 sq ft needs about 1,238 tiles. Count every wall first and add the allowance once to the project total.
Do bigger salt tile packs cost less per tile?
Usually, but not in every case. At prices checked October 28, 2026, the 100-pack is about $5.72 per tile, slightly more than the 70-pack at about $5.71. From the 150-pack up, the per-tile price falls at each size, down to about $4.91 in the 1,000-pack. Prices are approximate.
What does a 400 sq ft salt tile project cost?
About 1,981 tiles with a 10% allowance. Two 1,000-packs cost approx. $9,820, about $24.55 per sq ft. Adding a 50-pack of adhesive at approx. $1,249 brings materials to approx. $11,069, before labor, framing, lighting and shipping. Prices checked October 28, 2026 and approximate.
Does ordering all rooms at once cost less?
It can. Four 6 x 4 ft panels need 119 tiles each, approx. $684 per room or approx. $2,736 in total. Ordered together, 476 tiles fit in one 500-pack at approx. $2,500, about $236 less at the checked prices.
How heavy is a bulk salt tile order?
Each tile is listed at about 2.9 lb, so 496 tiles weigh about 1,438 lb and 1,981 tiles about 5,745 lb. Plan for receiving, dry indoor storage and a floor that can carry the load.
How much adhesive do I need for a large tile order?
Our adhesive 3-pack lists up to 120 salt bricks, or up to 40 pieces per tube. Using that as an upper figure, 1,238 tiles need at least 31 tubes and 1,981 tiles at least 50. Order a little extra and follow the adhesive instructions.
Why does a large pack show Get Quote instead of a price?
Some large pink tile packs show a Get Quote button on the product page. The prices in this guide are store catalog prices; a quote through our contact page confirms the current price and delivery for your order.
