Salt Tile Wall Installation Cost: Labor and Supplies Broken Down

By Natural Salt Co.

A pink salt tile wall costs roughly $40 to $52 per sq ft installed in our four examples: approx. $30 to $32 per sq ft for tiles and adhesive at Natural Salt Co. store prices, plus an example hired labor range of roughly $10 to $20 per sq ft. That puts a 4 x 6 ft panel at about $1,004 to $1,244 and an 8 x 10 ft wall at about $3,210 to $4,010, before backing, lighting and shipping. Below is the math for each line item, so you can swap in your own wall size and local quotes.

What Goes Into a Salt Tile Installation Budget

A salt tile wall budget has two kinds of numbers. Some come from our store and some come from your local market. Keeping them apart makes quotes easier to compare.

  • Store data (Natural Salt Co.): tile packs, adhesive packs, tile size (8 x 4 x 1 inches) and coverage (the 100-pack page lists 22.22 sq ft, so about 4.5 tiles per sq ft).
  • Typical US estimates (vary by location and project): installer labor, wall backing or framing, LED lighting, electrician work, trim, tool rental and disposal.
  • Shown at checkout: shipping, which depends on order weight and delivery address.

Salt tile price per piece and per sq ft

Our pink salt tiles are sold from single tiles up to 300-packs on the collection page. Here is what each pack works out to per tile and per sq ft at 4.5 tiles per sq ft.

Single tile$6$5.99$26.96
Pack of 10$59$5.88$26.46
Pack of 50$290$5.80$26.10
Pack of 70$400$5.71$25.71
Pack of 100$572$5.72$25.74
Pack of 150$810$5.40$24.30
Pack of 200$1,071$5.35$24.10
Pack of 300$1,600$5.33$24.00

Prices checked November 1, 2026. All prices are approximate and can change; see the product page for the current price.

Larger packs are not lower per tile at every step. The 100-pack works out to about $5.72 per tile, a little above the 70-pack at about $5.71. From 150 tiles up, the per-tile figure drops to about $5.33 to $5.40. That is why a real order is usually a mix of packs, not one size.

Adhesive

Our pink salt adhesive 3-tube pack costs approx. $80, and its product page says it bonds up to 120 salt bricks. The page does not give a tile count, so we plan about 40 tiles per tube as a planning figure, not a product spec. A 2-tube pack is approx. $54. Two 3-packs plus two 2-packs (10 tubes, about $268) came in below the 10-tube pack (about $281) at today's prices. Check coverage with the product page and the adhesive maker's instructions for your wall surface.

Labor Cost to Install Salt Tiles

Labor is the line item that changes most from city to city. These are typical US estimates, not Natural Salt Co. prices, and we do not set installer rates.

  • Standard tile labor: national tile cost guides commonly list about $5 to $15 per sq ft, and many installers set a job minimum of roughly $300 to $500 for a small single-wall job.
  • Example planning range for salt tiles: roughly $10 to $20 per sq ft. Salt work tends to take extra time for dry laying, color sorting, dry cutting with a diamond blade and checking each course for level. Our salt brick wall labor guide uses the same planning range.
  • Not included in that range: building or reinforcing the backing wall, LED channels, wiring, trim and cleanup. Ask installers to price these as separate lines.

Use these figures as a placeholder until you have two or three local quotes. A qualified installer can confirm the time your wall needs.

Installed Cost by Wall Size

Each example adds a 10% cut and color allowance, rounds up to whole tiles, and uses the lowest-cost mix of the pack sizes listed above. Adhesive uses the 40-tiles-per-tube planning figure.

For the 8 x 10 ft wall, two 200-packs (400 tiles, about $2,142) came in lower than an exact 396-tile mix of 300 + 70 + 20 + 4 + 2 (about $2,152), so the example buys 4 extra tiles. On the 4 x 6 ft panel, the labor estimate may fall under an installer's job minimum, so the real labor figure could be higher.

The math, step by step

  1. Wall area: width x height in feet (6 x 8 = 48 sq ft).
  2. Tiles: sq ft x 4.5 (48 x 4.5 = 216).
  3. Allowance: x 1.10, rounded up (216 x 1.10 = 237.6, so 238 tiles).
  4. Adhesive: tiles / 40, rounded up (238 / 40 = 5.95, so 6 tubes).
  5. Labor: sq ft x your local rate (48 x approx. $10 to $20 = approx. $480 to $960).

Subtract doors, windows and outlets from the area before step 2. Our salt tile size guide has the tile specs if you want to plan row by row.

Ways to Keep Installation Cost in Check

  • Compare pack mixes. A mix like 200 + 30 + 4 + 4 can come in below rounding up to a bigger pack. Run the numbers for your count.
  • Keep the allowance at about 10% for a running bond layout. Patterns with more cuts, such as herringbone, may need more.
  • Get line-item quotes. Ask installers to list labor, backing, trim and lighting separately so you can compare like with like.
  • Dry lay before bonding. Sorting tiles by tone first can cut rework time on site.
  • Consider bricks for some walls. If you want a deeper look, pink salt bricks share the same 8 x 4 inch face but are 2 inches thick. Our salt tile cost per sq ft breakdown covers material pricing in more detail.

If you plan to handle the work yourself, our step-by-step guide on how to install salt tiles lists the tools and steps. Follow the adhesive maker's instructions, and bring in a qualified professional for structural or electrical work.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to install a salt tile wall?

In our examples, a pink salt tile wall runs roughly $40 to $52 per sq ft installed: approx. $30 to $32 per sq ft for tiles and adhesive at store prices checked November 1, 2026, plus an example labor range of roughly $10 to $20 per sq ft. Backing, lighting and shipping are extra.

What does labor cost for salt tile installation?

Labor is a typical US estimate, not a store price. We use roughly $10 to $20 per sq ft as a planning range for salt tiles, since salt work adds dry laying, color sorting and dry cutting. Many installers also set a job minimum of roughly $300 to $500. Get local quotes to confirm.

How many salt tiles do I need for a 6 x 8 ft wall?

A 6 x 8 ft wall is 48 sq ft. At 4.5 tiles per sq ft that is 216 tiles, or 238 with a 10% allowance. One example mix is 200 + 30 + 4 + 4 tiles for approx. $1,293.

How much adhesive does a salt tile wall need?

The 3-tube adhesive pack page says it bonds up to 120 salt bricks. Tile coverage is not stated, so we plan about 40 tiles per tube as a planning figure. A 238-tile wall would plan for 6 tubes, about $160 in two 3-packs. Confirm with the product page.

Is a larger pack of salt tiles lower per tile?

No. At prices checked November 1, 2026, the 100-pack works out to about $5.72 per tile, slightly above the 70-pack at about $5.71. The 150, 200 and 300-packs are lower, at about $5.33 to $5.40 per tile.

What costs are not included in these estimates?

Wall backing or framing, LED lighting, electrician work, trim, tool rental and shipping are not included. Price them locally. Shipping is shown at checkout.
