Salt Brick Wall Budget Tips: 8 Ways to Lower Your Cost

The simplest way to lower the cost of a salt brick wall is to price the pack mix, not the pack. At Natural Salt Co., pink salt bricks range from approx. $6.60 each as singles to about $4.85 each in the 1,000-pack, but the per-brick price does not drop with every larger pack. Below are eight budget tips with the math behind each one, using store prices checked October 27, 2026.
Quick answer: where the savings come from
- Compare pack combinations. For a 4 x 6 ft wall, a 70-pack plus a 50-pack costs about $33 less than a 100-pack plus a 20-pack for the same 120 bricks.
- Check the sauna brick kits against buying separately. Some kits cost less, some cost more.
- Buy adhesive in 3-packs where the count fits. The 10-pack costs more per tube than the 3-pack.
- Size the wall to the space you actually see, and order your cut allowance in one go.
- Ask for a project quote on large orders.
Store data used in this guide
These figures come from Natural Salt Co. product and collection pages and store catalog data:
- Brick size: 8 x 4 x 2 in, about 5.5 lb each.
- Coverage: 100 bricks cover about 22.22 sq ft laid flat, which works out to 4.5 bricks per sq ft.
- Adhesive: the 3-tube pack is listed as covering up to 120 salt bricks, or up to about 40 bricks per tube. This guide uses 30 to 40 bricks per tube as a planning range, since coverage can vary with the wall and installer.
Some larger pack pages show a "Get Quote" button instead of a price. For those packs the prices below come from store catalog data; see the salt brick collection or contact us to confirm.
Tip 1: Compare price per brick before you pick a pack
Here is each pink brick pack divided out per brick and per square foot (price per brick x 4.5).
| Pack | Approx. price | Approx. per brick | Approx. per sq ft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single brick | $6.60 | $6.60 | $29.70 |
| 20-pack | $130 | $6.50 | $29.25 |
| 30-pack | $185 | $6.17 | $27.75 |
| 50-pack | $287 | $5.74 | $25.83 |
| 70-pack | $387 | $5.53 | $24.88 |
| 100-pack | $577 | $5.77 | $25.97 |
| 150-pack | $813 | $5.42 | $24.39 |
| 200-pack | $1,059 | $5.30 | $23.83 |
| 300-pack | $1,595 | $5.32 | $23.92 |
| 400-pack | $2,000 | $5.00 | $22.50 |
| 500-pack | $2,500 | $5.00 | $22.50 |
| 1,000-pack | $4,849 | $4.85 | $21.82 |
Prices checked October 27, 2026. All prices are approximate and can change; see the product page for the current price.
Three things stand out. The 100-pack costs more per brick than the 70-pack and the 50-pack. The 300-pack costs slightly more per brick than the 200-pack. And the 500-pack costs about the same per brick as the 400-pack, so extra bricks beyond your count are not a saving.
Tip 2: Mix packs to hit your count
Most walls need a brick count that does not match one pack. Work out the count first: wall area x 4.5, plus about 10% for cuts and breakage (a common planning allowance; ask your installer what fits your layout). Then price a few combinations.
| Wall | Bricks with 10% | Order A (approx. cost) | Order B (approx. cost) | Approx. difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 100 bricks | 100 | 100-pack: $577 | 70 + 30: $572 | about $5 |
| 4 x 6 ft (24 sq ft) | 119 | 100 + 20 (120 bricks): $707 | 70 + 50 (120 bricks): $674 | about $33 |
| 12 x 8 ft (96 sq ft) | 476 | 500-pack (500 bricks): $2,500 | 400 + 70 + 10 (480 bricks): $2,450 | about $50 |

These are example orders, not a promise of the lowest total for every wall. The 10-pack used in the 12 x 8 ft example is listed at approx. $63 in store catalog data. The point is simple: price two or three mixes before checkout.

Tip 3: Check sauna brick kits against buying separately
The store's sauna brick kits bundle the same 8 x 4 x 2 in bricks with tubes of adhesive. They can suit a wall project too, but they are not always the lower total. The "separate" column below uses the lowest pack mix found for the same brick and tube count.
| Kit | Approx. kit price | Same items bought separately (approx.) | Lower option |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 bricks + 3 tubes | $630 | $652 (70 + 30 bricks, one 3-pack) | Kit, about $22 less |
| 150 bricks + 5 tubes | $999 | $947 (150-pack, 3-pack + 2-pack) | Separate, about $52 less |
| 200 bricks + 6 tubes | $1,240 | $1,219 (200-pack, two 3-packs) | Separate, about $21 less |
| 300 bricks + 10 tubes | $1,890 | $1,863 (300-pack, two 3-packs + two 2-packs) | Separate, about $27 less |
| 450 bricks + 15 tubes | $2,550 | $2,687 (400 + 50, five 3-packs) | Kit, about $137 less |
| 500 bricks + 17 tubes | $2,870 | $2,954 (500-pack, five 3-packs + one 2-pack) | Kit, about $84 less |

Tip 4: Buy adhesive in the right pack size
Per tube, pink salt adhesive works out to about $29.99 for a single tube, about $27.00 in the 2-pack, about $26.66 in the 3-pack, about $28.10 in the 10-pack, about $27.33 in the 15-pack, about $24.98 in the 50-pack and about $22.30 in the 100-pack. The 10-pack and 15-pack cost more per tube than the 3-pack.
Example: a 12 x 8 ft wall with 476 bricks needs about 12 to 16 tubes at 30 to 40 bricks per tube. Four 3-packs (12 tubes) cost approx. $320, while a 10-pack plus a 2-pack costs approx. $335. For 16 tubes, four 3-packs plus two 2-packs come to approx. $428. Ordering one extra tube is usually easier than stopping halfway through a wall.
Tip 5: Size the wall to what people see
Brick cost scales with area, roughly $22 to $30 per sq ft in bricks depending on pack (table above). A 4 x 6 ft feature panel behind a bed or desk needs about 119 bricks, approx. $674 in the 70 + 50 example. A full 8 x 8 ft wall needs about 317 bricks; a 300-pack plus a 20-pack (320 bricks) comes to approx. $1,725. If the wall sits behind furniture or a screen, a panel at eye level may give the look you want for well under half the brick spend.
Tip 6: Order your cut allowance up front
Cutting the allowance too fine can cost more later. Top-up singles run approx. $6.60 each, compared with about $5.00 to $5.77 per brick in packs of 50 to 500, and a second order may add another delivery charge (delivery options are confirmed at checkout). Order enough the first time, and keep a few spares for future repairs.

Tip 7: Compare bricks with tiles before you decide
Tiles are not automatically the lower-cost choice. In store prices checked today, Himalayan salt tiles (8 x 4 x 1 in) cost about $5.71 each in the 70-pack versus about $5.53 for pink salt bricks in the 70-pack, and about $5.72 versus $5.77 in the 100-pack. Tiles are roughly half the weight, which may simplify the backing or framing on some walls. A qualified installer or engineer can tell you whether that changes your project cost. Our salt tiles vs salt bricks guide compares both formats in more detail.
Tip 8: Plan labor, lighting and framing early
Bricks and adhesive are just part of the budget. Installation labor, framing or backing, LED lighting and any electrician work are local costs that vary by location and project. As a planning range, our salt brick wall labor cost guide uses roughly $10 to $20 per sq ft for hired installation. Get two or three local quotes, and follow the adhesive maker's instructions and your installer's advice for the backing and lighting.
Example budget: 4 x 6 ft salt brick wall
| Item | Source | Approx. cost |
|---|---|---|
| 120 bricks (70-pack + 50-pack) | Store data | $674 |
| 3 to 4 tubes adhesive (one 3-pack, or two 2-packs) | Store data | $80 to $108 |
| Materials subtotal | Store data | $754 to $782 |
| Installation labor, 24 sq ft | Typical US planning range | $240 to $480 |
| Framing, LED lighting, electrician, delivery | Local quotes | Varies |
Prices checked October 27, 2026. All prices are approximate and can change; see the product page for the current price. Labor is an estimate (24 sq ft x roughly $10 to $20 per sq ft) and varies by location and project.

Frequently asked questions
What is the lowest-cost way to buy salt bricks for a wall?
Work out your brick count (wall area x 4.5, plus about 10%) and price two or three pack mixes. Per-brick prices do not fall with every larger pack: the 100-pack is approx. $5.77 per brick, higher than the 70-pack at about $5.53. For a 4 x 6 ft wall, 70 + 50 bricks cost about $33 less than 100 + 20. Prices checked October 27, 2026.
Does a salt brick sauna kit cost less than buying bricks and adhesive separately?
It depends on the kit. In prices checked October 27, 2026, the 100, 450 and 500 brick kits cost less than the same items bought separately, while the 150, 200 and 300 brick kits cost about $21 to $52 more. Compare the kit with the lowest separate pack mix before ordering.
Which adhesive pack costs the least per tube?
The 100-pack is lowest at about $22.30 per tube, then the 50-pack at about $24.98. For smaller orders, the 3-pack at about $26.66 per tube costs less per tube than the 10-pack (about $28.10) or 15-pack (about $27.33). Prices checked October 27, 2026.
How many extra bricks should I order?
About 10% is a common planning allowance for cuts and breakage. Ask your installer what fits your layout. Ordering short can cost more, since top-up singles are approx. $6.60 each compared with about $5.00 to $5.77 per brick in packs of 50 to 500.
Do salt tiles cost less than salt bricks?
Not always. In prices checked October 27, 2026, tiles were about $5.71 each in the 70-pack versus about $5.53 per brick, and about $5.72 versus $5.77 in the 100-pack. Tiles are roughly half the weight, which may affect backing or framing cost on some walls.
What other costs should I budget for?
Installation labor, framing or backing, LED lighting, electrician work and delivery. These vary by location and project. As a planning range, hired installation is often estimated at roughly $10 to $20 per sq ft; local quotes give the real figure.
